Mineral B Pans are the most eco-friendly cookware on Earth. This pan is 100% natural with 99% pure iron and a beeswax finish to fight against oxidation while helping season the pan. This pan is excellent for general cooking including searing, browning, and grilling. We sell this pan as a direct replacement for coated cookware.
Use and care:
Before first use : MINERAL B ELEMENT® pans are finished with beeswax from the factory. Rub the entire pan well under hot running water to remove most of the wax. The remaining very thin layer of wax will allow for better seasoning.
Seasoning: Pour a few millimeters of oil in the pan - just enough to cover the bottom of the pan. Heat the pan at a medium/high heat and roll the oil around the pan it until smoke appears. Next, discard the extra oil and wipe any excess oil out your pan with paper towel. The more the pan is used and the reseasoned, the better the performance. You’ll find that the darker it becomes the better it is as a natural nonstick pan.
Cleaning after use:
1) Wash the frying pan with very hot water and a sponge. Wipe dry. It’s best not to use soap unless it has no detergents. If you don’t know what that means, don;t use soap.
2) Oil pan with a paper towel and put on the heat to a smoke point. Let cool and put away in a dry place.
A few notes:
If food sticks to the pan, use a light scouring pad.
Never put in a dishwasher.
If the pan is rusty you have not seasoned it well enough. Scrub the pan with a hard brush to remove the rust and reseason.
The cooking of acid foods - tomatoes, white wine, lemon…may alter seasoning (the appearance of white stains) - if this occurs, the pan should be seasoned again.
If traces of beeswax appear on your cooktop when using MINERAL B ELEMENT®, remove them with absorbent paper when the cooktop is hot.
The Logic of the Pan: Once it reaches temperatures above 140°C, the carbon steel frying pan seals the food on the surface, resulting in the caramelization of the natural juices - the Maillard reaction. A crust forms, preventing moisture from evaporating. The food becomes brown and crusty on the surface, tender and soft in the middle. Perfect for frying meat and obtaining crispy crepes or tasty omelettes!
